#1 AMAZON BESTSELLER – PUBLISHER’S WEEKLY NATIONAL BESTSELLER – Discover an easier, more balanced way to meal prep as you whip up 100 fresh and healthy dishes that happen to be gluten-free, from the creator of the popular blog and YouTube channel Downshiftology.

“Lisa has revolutionized meal prep to be approachable, fresh, and easy, and her cookbook has everything you need to make healthy eating a breeze.”—Emily Mariko, TikTok creator
Before Lisa Bryan began meal prepping several years ago as a way to save time and money, she quickly became tired of eating boring leftovers and wasting food. At the same time, she also wanted to “downshift” the too-fast pace of her life. So she flipped the script on meal prep by focusing on individual ingredients.
By prepping a handful of healthy ingredients at the start of the week, she learned that she could enjoy a variety of meals and snacks without getting bored. And she found she could control what she ate with more clarity: It became easy to eat more vegetables and simple proteins, eliminate processed foods and gluten (to manage her celiac disease), and reduce refined sugar. Her debut cookbook is packed with 100+ simple and ingenious big-batch recipes that can either be frozen or repurposed into totally different, delicious meals.
A dinner of Coconut Chickpea Curry with rice can be enjoyed the next day as a tostada at lunch, and a side of peas and crispy prosciutto becomes breakfast when you add a jammy egg on top. The recipes are all free of refined sugar, many are naturally anti-inflammatory, and dairy is minimal and optional. Lisa’s approachable method for eating well and preparing meals with ease will inspire home cooks to downshift their lives, too, by making healthy meals without a fuss.

    Perfection
I own a LOT of cookbooks. And I order way more and send a lot back because I’m picky. I almost never write reviews. But I love this cookbook. It’s truly healthy (the food, the recipe combinations and. Even the advice on which containers to use to store). It’s practical (long gone are the days I get an uninterrupted hour to cook). Many of the recipes allow me to prep quickly in advance when I’m free and then assemble or reheat right after picking my kid up from daycare. The flavors are excellent and she doesn’t demonize anything. Need a bit of maple syrup to make oats appealing? It’s in the recipe. Want less sugar, reduce it. There are pictures for everything and they look very appetizing. And even better, when I make the recipes, my food looks the same which is rare given the age of instagram focused food belongs. Simply perfection!

A true feast for the eyes and well as the palate
I preordered this book because I had seen Lisa on You Tube and knew that I would be interested in what she created. She is so thorough on her channel and that is exactly how she is in her cookbook. First off, the pictures are so visually appealing- so well done!!! I want to see the end product before deciding to create a dish and each recipe is represented beautifully. Secondly, she guides you through how to choose the best veggies, how to store, prep, and cook them (raw, steam, roast and rice).I just pick up this book to learn more about the foods themselves. My new breakfast favorite is the Green Goddess scrambled eggs. Yum!!! Simple and Savory. That is exactly what I want- simple recipes that are healthy, easy to create and so delicious. Making the Turkey spinach Patties tonight. I look forward to this cookbook getting tattered from excessive use. ☺️

Wonderful, Tasty, Healthy Recipes and Useful Meal Prep Info
I have been watching Downshiftology on YouTube for a few years, and the cookbook is a welcome continuation of that. The recipes are gluten-free and emphasize whole foods, rather than processed foods. Lisa is a proponent of meal prepping in batches and then combining the prepped components into different combinations throughout the week to keep it interesting. She includes information about how to select the best food from the grocery store (what to look for), different ways to prep and cook it, and different ways to use it in different dishes, as well as storage tips, so she offers a lot of versatility, in addition to traditional recipes.Although the recipes are gluten-free, they are not low carb. For example, rice, potatoes, and legumes are all naturally gluten-free but high in carbs. I follow a low-carb diet, so I simply use substitutions like riced cauliflower instead of actual rice or zucchini instead of potatoes. The recipes are all simple and easy to customize to your liking. She’s a proponent of prepping from whole foods (e.g., spiralizing her own zucchini noodles or making her own hummus), but I don’t have the time, equipment, or energy for that, and that’s Okay too. You can buy pre-spiralized zucchini noodles at many grocery stores, for example. It’s more important to remove any potential barriers to healthy eating than to try to follow everything verbatim. The pictures are beautiful and inspiring. My husband was really struck by the cover picture of a shrimp dish, so I bought the ingredients and he made it that night, which has never happened before from a cookbook. Something random is that many of the pictures have the food on a white marble counter, and I kept mistaking the spots in the marble for stains on the pages of the book, but that’s not really a critique, just something I noticed.Whether you are a beginner or an experienced cook, I think you’ll like this cookbook. Give it a try, and see how much better you feel when you eat healthy, delicious food.

I’m a recipe book collector and this one is my favourite!
I cook for my family daily. And I am a very good chef, humble too 🙂 over the years, I have bought and cooked with so many books, yet this one is already my favorite. I knew I would love it because I discovered Downshiftology 4 years ago while searching for a paleo pumpkin pie recipe. I remember thinning, “how something so simple can taste so amazing!?”. I still bake that pie weekly. In fact, I now pretty much exclusively cook Downshifology recipes for my family of 4 and not ever, not once did they fail me. This book is a natural extension to the amazing website and the recipes in this book are outstanding – so simple, so delicious and impossible to mess up. You can substitute what you have on hand and they still come out delicious! I love the meal prep section, it’s so helpful! When I first got the book, I made the raspberry crumble and my children devoured it. I know I’m feeding them healthy meals and desserts that taste heavenly, and I am so grateful to Lisa for both her website full of wholesome easy, QUICK, to follow recipes and now for this book. I saw a couple of negative reviews left for damaged books on arrival. I don’t understand why people would give a 1 star review for bad delivery – this has nothing to do with the actual content. Rate the recipes and contact Amazon for damaged products – they will take care of it. I give this book an A+ 🙂

Dinner planning is enjoyable with Downshiftology Healthy Meal Prep
I had seen many of Downshiftology you tubes, and enjoyed her recipes and approach to cooking meals. I saw that she had a cookbook and I am extremely pleased to have ordered it. I have made several of her recipes, which include: cilantro lime shrimp ceviche, cilantro lime shrimp with cucumber and rice, mango curry chicken, honey ginger salmon, coconut chickpea curry, etc…and I look forward to making many more! The ingredient’s list is not at all complicated. And her directions are easy to follow and straight forward. None take long to make. She shares ideas of how to make several meals from the same ingredients, so that you could meal prep for the week. I have wanted to know how to add the right combination of spices for wonderful tasting meals, and she has nailed it. Curry, coconut, cumin, and ginger have been prominent in the recipes I have tried, and that is what I hoping for! This is a well written and organized cookbook. I actually look forward to making dinner again, after being so tired of planning meals.

Book is delivered with visible damage on two places + dirty/dusty. It looks like the book was on the shelves for a long period not protected from the dirt/dust.Packaging for books should be better not cardboard envelope.

  7. Marina Lindström

Lisa makes cooking gluten free meals easier and more fun! She also is great at giving many ideas about how to prepare and construct meals before hand which is what we, modern busy people, need. The book has beautiful pictures, suggestions for storage and substitutes, not to mention the nutritional value of each meal! As transparent and clear as possible, that even beginners can do magic!

  8. Benny H.

I have made several recipes from this book and they are delicious and easy to make. The pictures are beautiful and recipes easy to follow. I love that Lisa gives tips for storage, helpful hints and creative swaps. I love the meal prep ideas and how to put those ingredients together in different meals. I just wish there were more!! These recipes feel nourishing and creative. I look forward to future books! My humble request, please add more ‘quick assembly meals’ ideas.
