    Goodbye cafeteria food
Just thumbing through it, I already was loving this book, already made sheet pan shrimp and zoodles, crispy tofu bowl and quick n easy empanadas, I feel I can cook better than the chefs at work, I’m so happy I came across a recommendation to order this book in my latest good housekeeping magazine and quickly pre ordered it through Amazon. The cafeteria food where I wrk, at a particular hotel chain sucks and I’m so happy now that I’m eating better tasting food in front of my co workers. Their impressed haha, Buy this book, you will be happy like I am, enjoying.

Pre-cut veggies is a good thing
The book is very helpful for beginners and experienced cooks, you just have to make time to do this. Once you get started , you really don’t want to stop. It tends to make you feel good having cut vegetables and fruits , waiting for you to use them.

    Good Choice
The recipes are easy to prepare and the ingredients, for the most part, are everyday ingredients. My pickiest eater loved my first recipe attempt!

Awful Kindle edition, no recipe list, no recipe links, only index, tedious to use.
So, I wrote this review and just as I was about to press submit, my cat erased it all. However, I am so disappointed in this book that I am going to write the review again, though I’ll likely shorten it. Here goes…I got duped into buying Good Housekeeping Easy Meal Prep: The Ultimate Playbook for Make-Ahead Meals after downloading their free recipe sample mini book. That was formatted as a Kindle textbook (which is awesome), easy navigation, links, etc.. I eagerly purchased the whole book since there are a few recipes that I would like to try and notice instantly it’s not Kindle textbook format. Okay, no problem. I just start scrolling through the pages, eager to read the recipe list, or at least chapter recipe lists, but there are none. None. I look at the TOC and other chapters, but there really is none. None. That makes this cookbook in a Kindle practically unusable since you would have to page through the whole book to find a recipe, unless you take the time to make bookmarks for yourself. I love Kindle cookbooks and I have over a hundred of them that I purchased through the years. Not only do they have great sales for them, but you can adjust the font size, you can enlarge images, you can easily search them them, they are portable and they don’t take up valuable bookshelf space. But this cookbook is like a Kindle cookbook from the early 2000’s. To be fair, there is an index where you can lookup recipes by letter, but I so much prefer recipe lists with links at the beginning of the book/chapter which is the standard for Kindle cookbooks nowadays. I know some people think this is not important and you should only judge on content, but if trying to access the content is frustrating, well that matters. It’s no different than taking stars for unreadable font or bad bindings.I should also note that only every 3rd or 4th recipe has a photo, which is not usually an issue for me, but I know for some it’s a deal breaker. Now it just seems to add to the disappointment. There were a few recipes I’d like to try, though I didn’t page through the entire book because I became so frustrated by the tedium that I started writing this review. This is book 14 in the series and came out a week ago, you would think Good Housekeeping would understand that you can not have a Kindle cookbook in the same format as a paper cookbook because you read them very differently. I thought this was a given, since their free sample book has excellent formatting. This was my first purchase in the series, and I was eyeing a few others, but I likely won’t be purchasing them since they are likely also unusable. I don’t recommend this in the Kindle version.

I am hoping my granddaughter will use it when she is teaching my GreatGrandson to cook. She is a good cook because I taught her and I want her to carry on for the next generation. If you ever watch the kids on tv, in those competitions, i can’t believe how great they are and they love being competitive. THEY are our future !

  12. NicB1981

This isn’t a book about meal prep, it’s just another recipe book and I’d say some of the recipes arent even suitable for meal prepping. Ingredients are American so certain Ingredients, weights, temperatures etc all need googling if you are from the UK like me.
