Priced right, fits, works
I do all of my own auto work – engine, body, etc. When things need replacing I hunt around and see what I can find. I like to stick with OEM, but sometimes OEM is priced unreasonably. Like these actuators: there seems to be an issue with Toyota and the driver door actuator. My 2009 Camry and my 2015 4Runner suffer from the same issue with the actuator. OEM is over $260 (was over $400 a few years back). I figured since I am doing the work myself, it is an investment of time more so than anything else if I try an aftermarket. Which led me to this part.The price was good enough to lure me into buying it. It shipped in a fast manner and was bubble wrapped inside its box. My first step was to plug it into the wire harness and make sure it worked, which it did. It cycled the lock motor correctly as well as the unlock, sending the right signal to lock and unlock all doors (the bad actuator would cause this to not always work). Replacing the unit is fairly straight forward, and it fit just right. Compared side by side to the OEM part there was no major visible difference.It has been installed for about a week now with no issues. It works every time with no concern. Considering I saved over $200 it appears to be a success for now. I will update this review if things change inside a year or two. November, 2018.

It Worked!
My 2013 Highlander Hybrid Limited power lock on the drivers side quick working. I contacted the dealer and they were 95% certain the door lock actuator motor died. They wanted over $500 to fix this with the OEM part I recall around $250! With a little research, we found a YouTube video explaining how to do it ourselves and ordered this part. Worse case, we would be out $50 for this part. My husband and 18 year old son gave it a shot and it worked! It took them maybe an hour. I’m so glad. There was only one minor issue with our repair. The door was sticky to open and close. However, now that it has been a month, it has loosened up and is barely noticeable. That is the only reason I gave it 4 stars (and perhaps this is attributed to the install technique). I would absolutely do this again and recommend this product.

Functional but quality of plastic is poor
Installed on 2013 Lexus RX-450h. The difficulty of the install mostly involves the structure of the door, not this particular part. However, two key parts are of poor quality, and those parts are pretty critical in the function of the door latch. One of the parts is the part that retains the rod from the outside door handle to the Door Lock Actuator Motor. The other part is one that retains the cable from the inside door handle to the Door Lock Actuator Motor.I removed the part from the original OEM Door Lock and used it on the new one … I think that will keep the rod in place. I am not confident the cable to the inside handle will stay in place. The plastic in question here is dramatically different from the OEM Door Lock. There is a plastic door where you have to fit the plastic part of the cable in place and then close a hinged plastic door to keep the cable in place. The cable did not fit the Door latch very well, and as soon as I tried to press the plastic door in place, the latch bent so as to make it ineffective. Over time, I am concerned that the plastic will open up and the cable will work itself free, making it impossible to open the door from the inside without rolling the window down and using the outside door handle. That plastic door latch appears to be integrated into the entire assembly of the Door Lock Actuator Motor.As it stands I would not buy this part again and would opt to go with a more expensive part that is of the same quality as that of the original part. Imagine getting caught in a flood where you cannot open the drivers side door because of a cheap plastic latch…

I replaced this actuator on my wife’s 2012 Toyota Sienna. I watched a couple of videos on the internet and did a trial run (pulled the door panel apart and put it back together) the day before I ordered it. I figured if I couldn’t get it back together I would just take it to the local repair shop. The quote I had for replacing this was in the $300 range. I was able to do it myself and saved a ton of money. The part fit without any problems and has worked without any issues since I installed it.

Actuator has one issue.
I installed this on my 2015 Toyota 4Runner. Installation was typical. All features worked the same as the factory actuator except one thing. When you open your door to get out then lock your door from the inside push button then close the door, it unlocks. I could not figure out what was causing this to happen. I pulled the actuator out and simulated the lock/unlock scenario with a screwdriver. It would not stay locked the same as the factory actuator would when locking from the inside and then closing the door. I decided to swap the small motor from the amazon actuator and put it in the factory actuator. Problem solved! I hate that I wasted time, but it was still cheaper than the dealership quote.
