    A Must-Read for New Moms
Good Moms Have Scary Thoughts is an incredibly reassuring and honest book that every new mom should read. It normalizes the intrusive thoughts and overwhelming emotions that many mothers experience but rarely talk about. The mix of supportive advice, humor, and relatable illustrations makes it easy to digest, even when running on little sleep.I appreciate how this book encourages open conversations about postpartum mental health and provides practical tools to cope. It made me feel seen, understood, and less alone in my journey. Highly recommend for new moms and those supporting them.

    Can’t recommend this book enough!!
Postpartum Mamas, feeling off? Get this book. It seriously helps so much. The book is well-written and it doesn’t take long to read a few pages. The author, Karen Kleiman, does a great job helping you understand what you’re feeling, why you’re feeling it, and what to do about it. She carefully pairs encouragement with validation to make you feel less alone and less crazy. This book has become my go-to baby shower gift.

I recommend this to every new mom!
I first purchased this for myself 3 months postpartum when I was really struggling in lots of areas: worrying about breastfeeding, having difficulty setting boundaries with family members, worrying if I was doing enough, wondering if I was the only mom who felt overwhelmed, sad, and alone and this book was so incredibly validating. It was also so easily digestible. With a newborn there was just no time to “do the research” that I required to comfort myself. Luckily these were short, easy to digest. I could read short comic within a matter of minutes. I also loved that included a workbook side that allows you actually help address some of these feelings and concerns. So not only you were comforted you were not alone, you also had a means of bettering/helping yourself when it all feels like so much. I loved the versatility of the book and that you could just skip around and complete/read sections that applied to me and my situation. Since my initial purchase I have purchased 3 other copies for close friends of mine and they have all said the same thing, it was so comforting and helpful through out the postpartum journey.

    Helped me through postpartum depression
This book was recommended to me. It really helped me see things in a different way. It is also a good baby shower gift. Even if someone does not go through postpartum depression it does touch on some topics like when people think they are being helpful but over step. I like how there is a comic, expert text and a doodle journal entry. It makes it an easy read to pick up and put down as needed.

    Postpartum
As someone who had a rough time mentally during postpartum, I would recommend this to every new mom. This book says those thoughts you don’t want to say and helps you feel less lonely.

    A Great Start
I skimmed this book first when my second child was a newborn, and fully read it now that he is six months old. I needed it – wish I had it – with my first child, and really, really needed it with my second. I was introduced to it by my therapist who had it in her office and would occasionally pick it up to show me a specific entry. There is nothing like feeling “seen” by something in a book and that is ultimately what is helpful about this book. The advice and exercises ultimately fell flat for me but the simple ability to see thoughts I had had written in the thought bubble of an imaginary woman – so helpful. It is short and a quick read, not really meant to be read cover to cover as much as picked up here and there for the section you need. I hope it expands to include other social situations, as well as PPD/PPA well past the newborn period. The babies pictured and referenced were generally newborns. I didn’t realize I had PPD with my first until she was 8 months old

    This book is amazing!
I’m a doula and I have purchased several of these books. I give them away to clients after the birth of their baby. It’s such a fun and encouraging way for new moms to realize they aren’t alone and their feelings are valid.

  9. Oscar

I struggled with post pardum anxiety and depression after my first child, this book was recomended by my mental health team, it’s brilliant. It is so relatable and makes you realise your not an awful mother or going bonkers, many mother’s feel the same way and we should talk about it more! It has sections to write your thoughts and feelings and exercises to do to help with panic situations etc. Would recomend to every mum with or without mental health issues as its very insightful. Also good for partners to give it a read as well as it has sections in there for them and also helps your partners to understand what your going through mentally and what you need help with and how to help meet your needs

It’s a bad bad deal. I can’t comment on the book because the Kindle format is extremely not readable and NOT KINDLE COMPATIBLE. The illustrations and writing do not fit page size of Kindle. Such a waste of my money on this. Please don’t buy!!

  11. Tas

I wished to know about this book earlier.

  12. Van

This book is such a wonderful must-have. It helps new moms and their families to understand and give support for a common postpartum distress in a very sensitive period of women’s life. Quick reading and really helpful.

  13. Amazon Customer

This book covers a lot of topics you might not have thought about. It presents information in a way that’s easy to understand and digest. The author shifts the focus to the mom and it’s a must read for anyone who is pregnant!
