How did we get our start?
Thunderbird was founded in 2010 in Austin, Texas, when two adventurous triathletes were inspired to create a great tasting, whole food energy bar. Excellent ingredients, taste and texture . . . . . but . . . . . .
I very much like the flavors and texture of these assorted bars.The only reason I didn’t give them 5 stars is the sugar contents per bar is 13-14g…..for people looking for a wholesome snack, this much sugar is a cause for pause. I ONLY eat these when my activity level will be high for an extended period of time so my body can burn some off. I’m NOT diabetic, I just think it’s smart to watch daily sugar content and I can’t be the only one who thinks this it’s important.To be fair, Thunderbird is not alone, ALL of the companies I’ve seen on Amazon and in the stores put too much sugar or worse, artificial sweeteners in their bars.So…..Thunderbird, why not separate yourself from the crowd and find a way to lower the sugar level, you may gain customers by doing so.🤔😁…other than that your bars are great!

Excellent flavor, very filling
First time I got the assortment. Four of the bars were great but I didn’t like two of them. Not that the bars weren’t good, I just don’t like mocha, maca, or figs. I was skeptical about the Pecan Goji Pistachio, but it’s one of my favorites. So I got the Texas mix package this time. It has that bar and the Texas Maple Pecan and Chocolate Coconut Cashew. I like both of those and also the Chocolate Almond Butter Sea Salt. Next time, I’ll probably try the Chocolate Lovers, which has this and the Chocolate Coconut Cashew. I’ve tried a lot of brands and these are in my top three.

When this package showed up in a bag instead of a box, I had a moment of “Wait… what did I order?” Mild panic turned to pleasant surprise once I opened one of the bars.Let me just say…outstanding. The texture was totally unexpected: soft, pliable, and super easy to chew (no jaw workout required). The flavor? Surprisingly delicious. It didn’t have that usual “I’m pretending to be chocolate but I’m actually sadness and whey” protein bar vibe. In fact, I usually try to power through protein bars like a chore—this one, I had to stop myself from tearing into another.And the ingredients? Short list, no weird science experiments. Just real stuff. No junk. Honestly, I’m all in on this one. Didn’t expect to fall in love with a protein bar, but here we are.

Beware!
Bought every flavor. This is the first low review score I’ve had to do in a while. For me personally, and I have healthy taste buds, all the flavors taste generally the same. Too subtle a difference on the same base bar substance it seems. The worse part for me was when I tried the Coffee/Hazelnut. I literally got cut in my gum by a sharp hazelnut shell fragment! About the size of 1/4 of a dime. Looked like the end piece of a shell and painful to bite into. I carefully checked the rest of the bar, then found a second smaller fragment! That does not belong in a food bar and swore me off of these. If it was just the taste issue, I would have scored it a five since that can be subjective but shell fragments is totally unacceptable. It was the 5th bar I ate out of 12 to be fair, but the rest are in the trash now. I’ve eaten many health bars and never had such an issue. This is a manufacturer quality control issue.

They fall apart while opening, not all flavors as good
These are not large bars, they break apart when they open and many of the flavors are underwhelming or just outright bland. The texas pecan is my favorite; it actually has a strong, unique taste that is significantly different from the others. I don’t think I could guess what the flavor of pretty much any bar was if I did a blind taste test. They’re all just gritty nuts and fruit with other ingredients that blend in. They’re not the worst thing I’ve ever had and probably could be worth while if they go on sale.
