A “must have” book for any young adult!
This is the book I wished I had growing up!The author addresses many important life skills parents and adults may take for granted are being taught in a school setting. Many life skills are not. We think our kids have learned how to properly problem solve, or knows how to manage money, or that they have emotional intelligence and self control, or that they know how to properly communicate with other adults or professionals.I found this book to be helpful for myself by ways of explaining a specific topic, or just to remind me of what may be a topic to discuss with my child. The author has included many relevant topics and explains each and everyone in a thorough manner with humour and relevant examples. It is easy to grasp the concept that is being discussed in the book.Reality is that many graduates highschool without many of these important life skills, or at least may be lacking some. This book is an excellent source in bridging the gap between parents and kids, or school and kids.I truly enjoyed reading this book and can strongly recommend it to any young adult, as young as early teens. I believe it can help build confidence and knowledge that can lead to success when it’s time to start looking at colleges or searching for a job.A well written, smart, intelligent, funny and informative book!Linda and Peter Greibesland

This book should be gifted to teens
Practical Life Skills For Teens: Your Guide To Becoming A Capable, Confident, and Independent Teenager With Real-World Skills Not Taught In School – Manage Money, Cook, Self-Care & More! By Ben Clardy—enables teens to prepare for adulting in the real world with skills that have almost become a lost art. The topics in the book are excellent—bravo to the author. As Mr. Clardy aptly points out, 60% of parents worry about their child’s life skills and abilities. This book is a timely response to these concerns. Life skills are more than just a buzzword. They help us navigate life, overcome challenges, interact with others, and prepare for the future. What is unique about this book is that the author includes skills such as THINKING and ALTRUISM. While most schools do not cover life skills as part of their curriculum, these two topics are discussed less. The book allows teens and their parents to explore and converse about essential skills every teen needs to navigate adult life. Clardy also discusses communication, money, emotions, cooking, and personal skills. Enabling your child to understand the importance of these skills will allow them to develop into self-reliant, healthy, and contributing adults.Well done.

Filled with great tips for a healthy and productive life.
This book is filled with great, common sense tips and ideas that help teens transition to a healthy and productive adult life. There are so many I doubt most teens will make use of all of them, but even just following a small percentage of them will make a big difference for the better. After reading the book I’d suggest trying a few that appeal to you, seeing the difference they can make, then going back and trying a few more. Over time, they will lead to a happier, healthier, and more productive adult life.Without getting too deep into why these tips, skills, and habits aren’t taught in schools, Ben has filled that void. His writing style, sometimes quirky sense of humor, and good old common sense make this an easy read, with plenty of valuable information along the way.

Learning shouldn’t just happen while your child is in school. There is so many important life skills to learn about that aren’t taught in school. And I think the author does a great job giving so much great information. I think this is great for a teen who is self motivated and able to work through things on their own. I think this is also great for parents who want to teach their kids important life lessons outside of school, but need direction. Each topic gives a good overview, with some minor details about the subject. But It gives a fantastic framework for continued learning. With the vast amounts of information on the internet, any of the topics that you or your child wants/needs further information on, can easily be found. But if you don’t have the framework to know what you should learn in the first place, the internet is overwhelming and vast. This book solves that in a big way.I wish they made books like this for me when I was a kid. Now I’m in my late 30’s and feel like I am constantly playing catchup. A book like this in my teenage years would have been amazing.

The author, discussed different life skills for teens, such as communication, money, mental, and physical life skills that a kid should learn, such as productivity skills, household skills and practical skills. This book is full with financial information, and practical information for teenagers, and I definitely suggest it.I like all the topics on how active listening may help you build social skills and communicate more effectively. If we all listen, hear, and understand the message being delivered to others, we can solve over 90% of problems.

This book is about life skills for teens, it contains several chapters from social skills to money skills and etc. Most chapters talked about stuff that are practical but also nothing new, these content are covered by many similar books. However I am confused by the fact that the author suggested changing engine oil and tires are skills that would be useful for teens. To be honest, today you don’t need to learn these skills at all because most of the time you get support right away and how many cars still carry a spare tire today? It is just not relevant in my opinion.

A comprehensive guide that equips teens with real-world skills, from budgeting to emotional resilience. It covers both complex and simple tasks—like mailing a letter, a skill many adults surprisingly struggle with. The book’s relatable tone and hands-on activities make learning a pleasure, helping teens gain confidence and independence. A great choice for those eager to take charge of their future!
