Excellent Guide to Positive Parenting
I absolutely loved “Positive Parenting and Discipline Tools to Raise Good Kids” by Grace Presley! This book is a game-changer for anyone looking to parent with mindfulness, love, and respect. I was especially drawn to how Presley explains the difference between positive discipline and punishment. The book is packed with practical tips, from mastering key parenting skills like empathy and kindness to building strong, trusting connections with your kids. What I really appreciated was how the book doesn’t just focus on discipline but also on raising emotionally intelligent, confident, and compassionate kids. I found the sections on balancing discipline and connection to be super helpful, and I especially loved the advice on supporting your child’s passions while keeping communication open. The life skills chapter was an added bonus.Grace Presley’s thoughtful and balanced approach truly resonated with me. This book is a must-read for any parent wanting to raise happy, well-rounded kids in today’s world. Highly recommended!

Thoughtful, practical approach: parenting focusing on fostering kindness, confidence, & emotional IQ
The strategies presented here are grounded in both science & practicality, offering ways to help parents band with their children, teaching & demonstrating crucial life skills like problem-solving & self-discipline. I loved how it emphasized mutual respect for one another over one-way punishment. On the other hand, some of the advice can feel a bit “idealistic” (sometimes I wondered how to apply any of it in the kind of crazy, real-life situation our family finds itself in), and the focus entirely on “positive discipline” might require a complete – & gradual, eventually – change in some people’s mindset (which could take some time?).Having said that, the emphasis on understanding a child’s emotions & responding with empathy agreed with me, making this guide a valuable resource for parents seeking to build stronger, healthier relationships with their kids.

Good book
If you’re a parent who’s looking for a book on positive parenting to raise your kids with emotional intelligence and mutual respect then the book is a good start. It offers many strategies and tools that can be used while raising a child. The author accompanies them with some practical advice and examples which makes the book easier to apply in real life situations. I don’t entirely agree with everything the author presents in the book, for example using time outs with toddlers, but it’s rarely the case that we agree with a certain approach entirely and that’s ok. You can still get plenty of takeaways from the book. What I found disappointing however was the beginning of the book where the author tries to explain the difference between punishment and discipline. The terminology wasn’t used consistently, some editing is definitely needed in that part. Having said that, I would still recommend this book as it offers important insight on how to raise compassionate, responsible and emotionally intelligent children.

Good practical advice, respects the parents – and the kids. Clear examples.
This book is great for new parents, and I think it will also be valuable for parents of older kids – it covers issues from infancy, through the toddler problems, and then on to the teenage years. It suggests the same consistent approach throughout: approaching issues with a positive attitude and working to have mutual trust and connection. This sounds easy, but I think any parent knows it can be tough. So the book continues in each section with a lot of practical advice and examples of how to implement this positive approach.I liked these examples, and found it therefore very useful, as well as “respectful” to the parents reading it. The author seems to fully understand the frustrations of parents, and how difficult it can be when you are there in the trenches dealing with an angry child, but still trying to move toward a positive outcome.

Helpful Ideas, But Lacks Depth in Some Areas
Positive Parenting and Discipline Tools to Raise Good Kids offers useful advice on balancing kindness with firmness and emphasizes positive discipline. I liked the focus on building emotional intelligence and mutual respect with your child. However, I felt the book didn’t go deep enough into the challenges of real-life parenting. Some sections felt too brief, and I wished for more practical examples and specific solutions for handling difficult situations.

Wow, what a resource. I particularly like how discipline is presented in a positive and constructive way (positive discipline vs punishment). As this generation of parents stepped away from physical discipline, we didn’t really have anything else in it’s place. And I feel this lack of any discipline is the source of a lot of issues in todays youth. This book is a valuable resource and I highly recommend it.

It’s a good book with some useful tips. I noticed a couple of typos. Overall, a light read with good suggestions but with no break-through strategies.

But it had either some typos or hasn’t been proof read. At one point it refers to children as students which in the grand scheme of things isn’t a big issue just might need to be proof read. Otherwise it had lots of useful information and guides on what to keep an eye out for as a parent!
