How many Christmas mornings have you found your family gathered around the tree with presents beautifully wrapped and a scrumptious feast on the table, but with hearts that have not been prepared to truly take in the wonder of God become human? Not this year. Let Every Heart Prepare Him Room, a family Advent devotional from Bible teacher and mom Nancy Guthrie, is designed to bring your family together during a season that is oftentimes too much about programs and presents, and simply not enough about Jesus. Along with devotions for every day in December, this resource includes explanations of some hard-to-understand aspects of popular Christmas carols, and discussion questions to draw in your elementary through high school-aged kids, transforming this time together from a dry lecture into a treasured family experience.

Wonderful for a family read aloud
All ages could get something out of this thoughtful and engaging Advent devotional. It goes through all of December, ending with encouraging for starting the New Year.

Great for mid-elementary through middle school (so far)
We bought this as a family devotional book for current use with our 6 year old and future use also with our younger one. Thus far, it has been very good. It’s Gospel-centered and theologically rich in ways appropriate for use with children. My single complaint is that the frequency of unnecessarily difficult words makes this somewhat less edifying for our 1st grader than we had hoped for. We are sure that it will get many years of use, though, so on future readings, it will undoubtedly work better.I love the family devotional model used here. The Kindle edition is bright and attractive on a tablet and perfectly serviceable on my Kindle Touch. My wife will be using this book with her 7th graders at the Christian school where she teaches, as well.

Good for families with elementary aged children
Every year our family celebrates the advent season with nightly lighting of the advent wreath, and singing a song or reading a christmas story. As our children have grown older, it has been more difficult to find something to keep their interest. No longer could we read the same story over and over again. This devotional is perfect for our school age children. The language is appropriate for elementary aged children, and the subject matter is thought provoking and has been good for discussion. Highly recommended.

A doable devotion
My family really enjoyed this devotion as the material was short and understandable, but also deep and is related to the biblical passages. Good family questions too!

Preparing My Heart
This book has helped me to set my focus back on what is really important about Christmas. Every day I am convicted to see God’s narrative plan to let His one and only Son to come down to earth to save me. It is a very recommended devotional book for Christmas season.

Good book for family devotions
I found this devotional to be a good resource for family devotions. The author here tries to produce a devotional that reaches the full range of ages of the readers’ family. I don’t think that is entirely possible. You may still have to explain some things to your younger children, but your teens won’t feel like they’re being talked down to. The discussion questions were thought provoking and good conversation starters. Occasionally throughout the book, the author includes a Christmas hymn and an explanation of the significance of the hymn.

We loved this family devotional for Advent!
Although we don’t have small children at home, my husband and I found this family devotional to be a wonderful way to align our hearts and minds to focus on Jesus all through the Christmas season. We loved reading it every night, and singing the hymns in the book – and we will do it again this Christmas – we loved it!

Great book
Loved being about to focus on Jesus during the month of December. This book was helpful in also making goals for the new year.

At last a book that encourages families to realise what Christmas is really about, the birth of our saviour the Lord Jesus.Even as a committed Christian I found this book a means of refreshing my belief and preparing for a real Christmas.
