Not tasty to me yet convenient
I expected to like this more based on the nutrition and ingredients as stated on the product page and the photo on the box. Actually, it didn’t taste fresh or good to me.* The shelf stable box has a best by date in July 2027, a long shelf life.* The box is the final container. It has foil sides on the inside.* Natural ingredients are listed, basically, and in some ways alright nutrition, but I have not felt satisfied with the eating of this food.* Pretty filling. The portion is filling enough to make me sense value for money if it’s just about getting filled up.* In my view, not fresh looking, really the opposite. The vibrant colors are not present in the mushy shelf stable box.* Didn’t have a pleasant aroma in my opinion. In fact, each box I opened smelled as if the food has aged and make me concerned about food safety. To me, the smell in unpleasant.* Absolutely not tasty in my opinion. I was unable to finish a box due to foul smell. I’m normally a person who will eat everything.* Convenient, very easy to access and warm up. The convenience angle is what attracted me until I saw and smelled the open product.Edit:I thought about attaching a photo of the teriyaki chicken rice bowl after heating on the stove, but decided against it because I cannot make it look fresh or tasty. Put another way, out of the container or off the stove, this doesn’t look like the photo on the box. Yet one cannot imagine a more convenient meal but whether it will make you sick or healthy is for each tester to determine.2nd Edit:I didn’t want to say it at first, but my stomach felt upset after having consumed some of this. I now believe the one I received wasn’t fit for consumption.

Don’t waste your money on this
I would have given this negative stars if I could. Other than the fact that Amazon delivered this and left it on my porch without notification which I had requested, allowing it to sit out there for untold hours, the macaroni and cheese was terrible. It was like macaroni with yellow paste. I took 2 bites and threw it out. I ordered that as part of a 4-pack of dinners, but I will probably throw the others out, too. Do NOT recommend.

Tastes Way Better Than It Looks
This tastes much better than it looks. Like way better. I got the Thai Style Chicken Bowl. It comes in a 6-pack with each box being about the size of two juice boxes. It’s very easy to open the box, following the instructions. I poured the contents in a bowl and got very nervous. It looks like a stew, not the chicken, rice, and lentils on the package. It’s very liquidy and splattered a lot in the microwave. But it was very easy to make; I would easily trust a small child to make this for themselves. And the taste is infinitely better than it looks. There is a sweetness to this bowl that definitely reminds me of Thai food. I think it’s a very tasty stew and much better than canned options, but I wouldn’t consider this a rice bowl.I think this is a great option to have in the pantry for kids to eat after school, especially as the weather gets cold and something a little hardy hits the spot. There are 22 grams of protein in this one little box plus 6 grams of fiber. Each box is 420 calories which is good for a small meal. Next time I eat this, I think I’ll add some rice. For $6 per box, I’m not sure this is a great value for the money. But if you need shelf stable food that requires nothing other than heat, this is a good option.Tip: Make sure to cover your bowl before heating it up in the microwave.

Convenient, tasty meal that comes with cute little sporks
I really like the size and packaging of these meals. The packaging is tough but easy to open, and the box easily fits into my day pack while fishing. The boxes have an internal lining that must be what helps it heat in a microwave. When I ate this meal I was at a picnic table next to a river, so I didn’t have access to a microwave. So I was not able to test how well the meal heats in its box. I have a small battery powered lunch box so that’s what I used to heat this meal.I had the Chipotle Chicken Bowl and it was a good meal. It tastes like something you’d order from Chipotle. There is chicken, rice, beans, corn, peppers, and a tasty Mexican seasoning. It would have been even better with some sour cream and some tortilla chips. But overall it was a tasty meal to eat next to the river. The six-pack comes with six of the cutest little sporks, so even though I had a spoon with me I ate the meal with one of them. Because it’s small you can’t get a big bite of food using this spork, so it takes longer to eat. But it gets the job done and would definitely be a lifesaver if it’s all you had to eat with. The serving portion was perfect for me, and the empty box folded up nicely and I didn’t have to worry about it making a mess in my car until I got to a trash can. Overall I enjoyed this Born Simple meal and it provided everything if hoped for: a tasty meal that’s easy to heat in my heated lunchbox while I’m out on the river.
