2019 Reprint of 1963 Edition.   JOSEPH MURPHY wrote, taught, counseled and lectured to thousands all over the world for nearly fifty years. Born in 1898, he was educated in Ireland and England. In the preface of this title, Dr Joseph Murphy asserts that life events are actually the result of the workings of your conscious and subconscious minds.  He suggests practical techniques through which one can change one’s destiny, principally by focusing and redirecting this miraculous energy. Years of research studying the world’s major religions convinced him that some great Power lay behind all spiritual life and that this power is within each of us. Dr. Murphy was Minister-Director of the Church of Divine Science in Los Angeles for 28 years, where his lectures were attended by 1300 to 1500 people every Sunday. His daily radio program during period was immensely popular. Murphy was influenced by Ernest Holmes and Emmet Fox, both well-known writers on New Thought principles, but his academic background was in Eastern religion. He spent many years in India and was an Andhra Research Fellow at the University of India. Dr Murphy spent a good part of his life studying Eastern religions, and was a scholar of the I-Ching, the Chinese book of divination whose origins are lost in history. He remains a beacon of enlightenment and inspiration for legions of loyal followers. The Power of Your Subconscious Mind has been a bestseller since its first publication in 1963, selling many millions of copies since its original publication.

    Typos/Errors
Very excellent book, but riddled with TYPOS! I would’ve returned it to try to get a better edited book, but I started writing in it before I realized. Why do companies send out books like this?? I wish I could get my money back.

    Murphy
The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy is a book written before the fairly recent and popular book, The Secret, which is very similar in ideas. The Subconscious mind can be thought of as pure consciousness, god, creative intelligence or any number of similar concepts. The power of the subconscious mind lies in its ability to channel ones desires into reality since it is connected to all things as its very nature. It is really nature, also. The techniques in this book for reaching the “place” where ones desires can be fulfilled are very powerful and seem correct. Having also read the more recently popular The Secret, it was obvious to me that they are talking about exactly the same thing.Being an artist, I have experienced the feeling a person can get when the subconscious is contacted through the timelessness of very long periods of drawing without interruption. One goes into a zone or flow in which gives a person the sight and ability usually not possible. This is pointed out in the book, Golf Flow, about the same thing occurring with golfers when everything works just right and time seems to pass in a way not experienced normally.I seem to be off of the point of the book I’m reviewing, but I see a direct connection with The Power of the Subconscious and the concepts in these other books. If there is one area that I find fault with in this book, it is the reference to Christianity very often. This brings in the religious feeling which he does state, is not needed to accomplish the techniques in this book. I was told by the person who recommended this book to me, that this is because when it was written, it was during a time period when this was important to do in order to reach any audience at all. I believe Murphy did this intentionally so that he could keep his readers long enough to give them another way to “pray” or accomplish life goals. Many readers today will find this to be no problem at all, either way. Overall, this is a very good book to read if you are trying to improve something about yourself, help to cure a physical condition or to be more successful in life. It does work and Joseph Murphy explains easy techniques for accomplishing whatever goals you might have.

Puts you in the right frame of mind
It’s evident that to shift our “outside world” we have to begin to shift our internal world and the way we look at and process our current “life situations”.Overall the book is very good with lots of examples and ways to address different parts of life, from relationships to money to health issues. You will get the message much earlier in the book and the rest of it are examples and reminders of how it can be applied in a variety of situations. There are a some Christian and Biblical references but I didn’t find them off putting. The author just as equally counter-balances them by describing the notion of God as “Life” or “Life Force” or “Infinite Intelligence”, etc. He certainly makes a conscious effort to keep it non-denominational.I feel that the value in these books is that they keep returning our attention to these simple truths that are so often overwhelmed by the deluge of life. I found that the best way to read this book is to not rush it.. In this book, it’s not about “finishing it” but about putting it into practice… I found that reading a little each day or night and letting the philosophy sink in, provides a constant reminder to practice it daily, allowing you the time to instill this new method of thinking as a habit.I feel this book has helped me be mentally conscious so that I can more actively create the world around me and that’s it’s mission. As I alluded to earlier, life is fast and furious and it comes at you willy-nilly. Our attention is always hammered on what is happening to us and what we’re experiencing… instead of what we’re creating. However you make the shift to being more conscious, more purposeful & realizing your thoughts very much matter… however you do that, is quite valid. This book will convince you WHY you should, give you some useful How-To’s and VALIDATE your infinite potential. What more could you ask for?

The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Joseph Murphy is a true classic that continues to change lives decades after it was first published. This book opened my eyes to the incredible influence our thoughts and beliefs have on every area of life — from health and relationships to success and inner peace.Dr. Murphy presents deep concepts in a clear and accessible way, making it easy to understand how the subconscious mind works and how to reprogram it for positive outcomes. The real-life examples and practical affirmations are especially powerful — I’ve already started applying a few, and I’m noticing real changes in my mindset and confidence. If you’re looking for a book that helps you unlock your inner power and take control of your thoughts and destiny, this is one you’ll want to keep on your shelf and revisit often. Highly recommended for anyone on a journey of personal growth and self-discovery
