Better for a kid, but mostly works well
I love the idea of heatless curls, but these curling rods are a bit too thin for what I wanted. Knocking a star for that, and reviewing for how they worked on my kid (8) since she is smaller and the tighter/smaller curls were more suitable for her than myself.My daughter has hair down to her mid-back and it’s generally very straight. She has a lot of hair, but it’s quite fine. We can separate her hair to pig tails and use only two rods to get some curl/wave patterns with minimal effort. I simply wrap away from her head, bend them together, and sleep with the bonnet. But it does work best using a few more, separating into 4 or 6 sections is better staying power and definition, but the trade off is comfort while sleeping. For her hair type, using wet isn’t ideal – her hair comes out stringy, slightly damp, and just dull if she goes to bed with wet hair wrapped up in these. Better is to use some styling product like a mousse, blow dry, and wrap while still warm. That way there is no stringy-ness to brush out and the style stays a little better.The rods are small, but the bonnet is very large. So it’s easy to put on to cover the whole head. And it’s pretty comfy to sleep in as the rods are soft. For a kid, it usually does not stay in place all night, but the curls do set if I apply them carefully.Since the size is not ideal for my own waves/curls (I prefer bigger curls), I can use these to sort of hold texture and volume. If I’ve done my hair one day and want to preserve the style for day two, these sort of work. But they don’t give me curls, only preserve what I had done using heat styling tools.Either way, it’s a great styling tool if you want to avoid head or preserve already set curls, so it’s worth having. The bonnet will protect hair regardless of using the rods. Larger or different sized rods may be preferred for some hair types but this size was great for a child.

Beautiful, soft, and pliable. Because of the sleek fabric, it does take some finessing to get your hair around it & to get it to stay in place, but it’s doable. It comes with a bonnet, which is a bonus! A pretty warmer blush pink with ties. Price is decent, especially because it comes with the bonnet as well as the curlers.
